Two new multimedia neuronavigators with electromagnetic and infrared optical technology against tumors arrive at the Bari Polyclinic. One of them is also equipped with an ultrasound module to verify already during the operation that the removal of the tumor is complete. The Bari university hospital updates and doubles the technological equipment of the neurosurgery operating unit which is thus able to operate even in two rooms.

“They are cutting-edge instruments that will allow us to plan and carry out even more personalized and targeted interventions on the patient”, explains the professor Francesco Signorellidirector of the neurosurgery unit of the Polyclinic of Bari. “Last year – he adds – we performed around 300 operations for brain tumors, this means that between emergencies and scheduled activities almost every weekday we treated a brain tumor”.

With these numbers, as certified by Agenas, the Bari Polyclinic is the first center in the south for these very delicate procedures. “The neurosurgery of the Polyclinic of Bari is an excellence in the national healthcare panorama and this investment goes in the direction of the company policies of guaranteeing patients the best standards of care available”, comments the general director Antonio Sanguedolce. “The purchase – he specifies – is occurred through the new programming of the FESR-ESF funds 2021-2027 which we had the opportunity to access thanks to teamwork with the health promotion department of the Puglia Region”.
