Viterbo – Planters split in Piazza della Rocca and full of grass: “They look like mangers”

VITERBO – While the interminable works of the PNRR continue, amid delays and endless criticism, the historic center continues to reap (un)successes among residents, tired of observing examples of degradation in every corner, as in the case of Piazza della Rocca.

Broken planters, torn cobblestones and unkempt grass are once again the undisputed protagonists of the photos taken by the citizens of Viterbo, tired of observing how the city, unlike the electoral promises of the mayor Chiara Frontini, is left to itself.

The result is evident, not only in the eyes of the people of Viterbo, but also in those of tourists who, walking through Piazza della Rocca, home to the beautiful National Etruscan Museum of Rocca Albornoz, are forced to admire broken vases containing grass that has not been mowed for days .

“Not only do they no longer think about putting flowers in them – says a resident – but the vases have now been broken by some vandal or no one repairs them anymore. This square has been abandoned and to think that PNRR work is being done just a stone’s throw away. They could fix it here too.”

Another note of pain is via della Cava, where parking has been reduced over time not by anyone’s choice, but due to the usual cobblestones. Beautiful to look at, but terrible when it comes to maintenance, these characteristic bricks of Viterbo have always been a real “cross” for administrations as they require continuous maintenance. The current council, however, does not seem to worry about it and even, precisely in Piazza della Rocca, others will arrive at the mayor’s request.

Who will care about their maintenance in the future, however, remains a mystery.
