RAGUSA – The abandonment of waste has become a serious problem for the province of Ragusa. In the Prefecture, during a meeting, the fight undertaken had already been discussed in this sense and, subsequently, others followed technical tables in the police station, one of which just a few days ago. Accumulations of rubbish, especially along arterial roads, are a risk and a danger that must be addressed.
Abandonment of waste, making those who make mistakes pay
The Prefect Giuseppe Ranieri had announced an extraordinary plan against theabandonment of waste and together with the Municipalities it was decided that it was necessary to provide ecological islands and municipal collection centers, even if not all local authorities have them. Thus the technical tables served to decide on quick and effective interventions to ‘make those who make mistakes pay’.
“Cameras, camera traps, surveillance and prompt intervention will give no respite to serial polluters, some of whom are already heavily hit by criminal charges and very high fines – they underlined at the Police Headquarters -. Penalties for violatorsdepending on the type of abandoned waste, ranging from 1,000 to 10,000 euros in fine, with a doubled penalty if it is dangerous waste and, depending on the case, the seizure of the vehicle used for transport is also foreseen”.
The Quaestor’s technical table was therefore an operational projection of what was argued in the most general lines in the services conference in the prefecture and following in-depth issues in the provincial public order and safety committee.
Draw the intervention guidelines
The Police Commissioner, with the support of the provincial commanders of the Carabinieri and the Financial Police, has traced the technical operational profile and the intervention guidelines still noting the importance of coordinated controls supported by the first positive results achieved so far thanks to the synergistic activity of all the police forces and local police forces. The work of the technical table in line with the programmatic initiatives outlined in the prefecture, encouraged the municipalities of the province to provide the necessary contribution both in the control phases of the territory – by the local police – and in the periodic updating of the areas affected by the phenomenon of the illicit abandonment of waste.
During the meeting sa high-impact intervention plan is also being thought of for an effective synergistic fight against the phenomenon with the operational collaboration not only of the other police forces but also of local authorities, local police forces and bodies that own the state and provincial roadways involved. The Police Commissioner, in agreement with the Prefect, has ensured every collaboration with the voluntary associations for the purpose of fruitfully sharing the set objectives.
Present at the technical table, which was well attended, were the provincial commanders of the Carabinieri and the Financial Police, the mayors of the municipalities involved and the councilors responsible for the matter, the representatives of the municipal police, the provincial police, the forestry departmental inspectorate , of the Free Municipal Consortium of Ragusa and the managers of Anas and Srr Ato 7 of Ragusa.
