COSENZA – “The recent events of Planetary they have opened, in addition to the question of the lack of controls in the city, also that which concerns the real estate assets of the Municipality of Cosenza. By browsing the site, in fact, it is possible to find aList of available and unavailable real estate assets” which, in 46 pages, certifies municipal ownership of various buildings, land, road network, public lighting systems, municipal sewerage system. However, we had to note that the last published list was updated as of 12/31/2018, which is why it is not known whether changes have occurred in the last six years”. This was written in a note by the Nuovi Orizzonti Cosenza movement.
Referring to the date reported on the List, – continues the note – we learned that the total of the value of the available buildings alone was €41,117,714.72. Among these, on page. 46 of the List, an unusual location that we had heard about some time ago caught our attention. It’s about Villa of Serenity, a property located in Contrada Ferrara di Mendicino of approximately 24,200 m2, with surrounding land. The value of the asset amounts to 3,199,450.49. As we were saying, some time ago the story hit the headlines in Cosenza for having apparently become an RSA, wanted by an entrepreneur in the sector and managed by a company registered, probably, to a figurehead. It also seems that the building was given to the current managers for a negligible sum, considering its value. And above all, it seems that the deed with which Villa della Serenità was granted to the managers includes the “rent with redemption” clause.
Now we ask ourselves because the Municipalitygiven the disruption (not created by the people of Cosenza) and its consequences which instead affect the residents, did not seek to make a profit from this asset to facilitate the lives of citizens who encounter disasters resulting from instability every day. Granting a building of the value that we have reported to someone to manage it and make money on it, spending very little on the rent, and perhaps even to take possession of it one day, is not acceptable to the Cosenza community which is still waiting to know the truth about the collapse and is also waiting for it same disruption can be addressed by making municipal assets profitable. Which are not few, in fact, from the List we learn that the “total value of available buildings amounts to €41,117,714.72; the total available land is equal to €18,289,090.77; the total value of the road network – lighting systems – sewerage system is around €106,128,777.29. We reiterate – concludes the note – that these are figures updated six years ago and that variations may have occurred in the meantime. Hopefully in a positive way.”
