PALERMO – The Municipality’s checks on the work of Sergio Maneri have begun, area manager of urban planning. His name, although not under investigation, is mentioned several times in the investigation which led to the arrest, among others, of the former city councilor Mimmo Russo.
“Prone to Mimmo Russo’s wishes”
In particular contacts emerged between the manager and the politician for the question of the new shopping center that a company wanted to build in Brancaccio. Relationships that would go beyond official interlocution. According to the Palermo Prosecutor’s Office, “the municipal manager appeared willing to comply with the wishes of the president of the urban planning commission (Mimmo Russo ed.)” who was in contact with Achille and Giuseppe Andò, consultants of the company interested in the shopping centre.
Russo’s goal would have been to give the green light to the new construction, which was rejected, to have in exchange for employment to be exploited as an electoral commodity.
The request of the councilors
The city councilors Giulia Argiroffi and Ugo ForelloIn recent days, they have asked the mayor of Palermo Roberto Lagalla and the general secretary of the municipality Raimondo Liotta to launch an inspection, and the immediate removal of the municipal manager Sergio Maneri. The municipal administration has started the checks, which Liotta and the general director Eugenio Ceglia are working on.
