Post-earthquake, another 4 million for schools – Teramo

TERAMO. Millions continue to arrive in the city for the post-earthquake reconstruction of public assets. A reconstruction that has so far been invisible, or rather has never started: for various reasons, one above all – according to different currents of thought – the enormous increase in the prices of building materials, which dramatically increased the initial costs of the projects. And it is precisely in this context that the latest funding for the city announced by the commissioner structure takes place.
OVER 4 MILLION MORE
«The 2016 earthquake coordination cabin», we read in a note, «under the guidance of the Commissioner for Repair and Reconstruction Guido Castelli, approved significant increases in contributions for two schools in Teramo: the Gemma Marconi nursery school and the San Giuseppe nursery and primary school. In total, the financing increases the ceiling made available by special ordinances in derogation number 6 and number 22 (both dedicated to the reconstruction of public buildings in the Abruzzo municipality) by over four million euros, thus allowing the interventions to be fully implemented. Both projects, providing for energy improvements, also had access to the Thermal Account (which incentivises interventions to increase energy efficiency and the production of thermal energy from renewable sources, ed)”.
THE TWO WORKS
For the Gemma Marconi nursery school, a structure owned by Asp 1, an increase of approximately 1.5 million euros was approved, for a total of 2.4 million. This financing, the commissioner’s office says, “will complete the resources necessary for the demolition and reconstruction of the old school building, with the inclusion of structural and energy improvements that will guarantee high quality, safe and functional educational spaces”. For the San Giuseppe nursery and primary school, owned by the Municipality, an increase of 2.6 million euros was approved, for a total of 6.7 million. The contribution goes to finance structural improvements and adaptations, to improve the seismic safety and energy efficiency of the building.
CASTELLI AND D’ALBERTO
«The school reconstruction program is an absolute priority for us», declares Commissioner Castelli, «this is why we wanted to guarantee adequate resources for the construction of seismically safe and energy efficient structures, also in such a way as to unblock situations, like that of Teramo, otherwise jeopardized by the general increase in costs. We continue our commitment together with the President of the Region Marcus Marsilio and to the Special Reconstruction Office of Abruzzo”. «The increase in the contribution for the reconstruction of the San Giuseppe school, which is the responsibility of the Municipality, as well as the Gemma Marconi nursery school, represents the result of constant comparison with the commissioner structure», comments the mayor Gianguido D’Alberto, «which, precisely in light of the increase in costs that affected the construction sector, increased the sums initially allocated. This was an important critical issue, common to the entire Central Italy crater, but which, thanks to effective collaboration, we managed to resolve. Now, as regards the intervention within our competence, we will proceed quickly.” The administration has been announcing for some time that, of the large post-earthquake public construction sites, that of San Giuseppe will be the first to start.
