“Simply Peppina”: a show dedicated to the former San Marco hotel

It is called “Simply Peppina”, the theatrical show dedicated to Giuseppina Strepponi, famous opera singer and wife, confidante and advisor of Giuseppe Verdi, which will be staged next May 11th at 5.00 pm in the headquarters of Piasinteina family.

Chiara Tambani will play Giuseppina

Danilo Anelli, razdur of the historic association, outlined the boundaries of the initiative: “The protagonist will be the actress and author Chiara Tambani who will take on the role of Giuseppina, a free, independent, non-conformist woman, a very talented artist. “Peppina” will tell the public about her great love story with the Maestro”.

“Recover the former San Marco hotel”

The event was born in collaboration with the Ex Albergo San Marco Committee which works with the aim of returning the building to its ancient splendor. Stefano Pareti, representative of the association, does not give up and relaunches the appeal: “This show wants to keep attention on the issue of the recovery of San Marco, a truly important place for the history of Piacenza”.

Two points of view justify this event, explains Parenti: “One concerns the match of the Verdi lands of which Piacenza is a full part. We believe it is necessary for the Municipality and the Province to take over the management of all public and private entities that develop a promotion of the aforementioned lands. The other question is that relating to San Marco. Years pass but this glorious building remains in a state of abandonment. I know that it is difficult to get the two public bodies that own it, namely the local health authority and the municipality, to agree. However, we need to somehow close the circle by finding an agreement. If we Piacenza people did not oppose the indifference and undervaluation of this property, we would not be worthy of the feelings that Verdi had for the people of Piacenza and our territory”.
