The elimination of the roundabout for direct access to Montegrosso scheduled for May 2nd could be postponed by a few days. This morning, in fact, the company carrying out the modernization works on the SP2 stretch between Andria and the village communicated its willingness to postpone the removal of the roundabout after 7 May, the day on which a new meeting of the technical table between all entities and that it is working on a shared solution to prevent Montegrosso from remaining without direct access.

The postponement would probably allow us to follow up on one of the two proposals that came to the technical table from the Andria municipal administration to resolve a critical issue that however comes from the past, i.e. from the definitive project of a work that has been underway for many years now. The possibility of public order problems certainly also weighed on the postponement proposal considering that residents and entrepreneurs of the village have already announced possible protest initiatives for May 2nd. In the meantime, however, the timetable of work on this topic includes an operational meeting on Monday between the technical offices of the Province and the municipality of Andria, before the meeting of the technical table in the Prefecture. On the table are the two proposals as mentioned hypothesized by Mayor Giovanna Bruno: either the passage of that access stretch to the village directly into the availability of the municipality of Andria or a downgrading to a secondary extra-urban road considering that the coplanar roads are missing precisely in that stretch.

The final direction could emerge from the meeting with the green light also for postponing the closure of the roundabout which in any case will have to be done to close a construction site which is currently still open. Any decision must in any case immediately involve a planning and economic assumption to quickly construct the new access roundabout after the testing of the work.

But the problems of the SP2 do not stop only at the Andria section but also spread to the Canosa section which has tragically become a topical issue in the last month due to two fatal accidents and several other accidents. From this morning, however, the construction site safety activities ordered by the BAT Province to the contractor company began. The construction site which has been closed for several years now intersects the current route at various points and the danger is demonstrated by the various accidents on that stretch. In particular, the death of 49-year-old Antonio Catalano on the night between Easter and Easter Monday also allowed the creation of a spontaneous Committee for the safety of that stretch of road and which today says it is satisfied with this first step which, however, will have to be followed the actual reopening of the main construction site quickly.
