PESARO «The administrators of Pesaro continue to violate the law on equal conditions, now the prefect must intervene». The centre-right mayoral candidate Marco Lanzi continues his battle in compliance with law 28/2000 which, in article 9, regulates institutional communication during the election campaign. “They preach democracy, but they violate the laws at the basis of democracy itself”, says Lanzi, asking for “respect for the rules” and invoking the intervention of the prefecture.
On the merits
Then he goes into detail: «In a shameless, shameful and repeated way, some local administrators who hold the important role of councilor continue to violate the law and use the institutional role with the intent of electoral propaganda. The candidate Mila Della Dora continues undaunted to give press conferences or participate in events taking on the role of Councilor when she cannot do so, probably feeling above the law. Enzo Belloni also invaded the city with posters, taking advantage of an advantage that is not available to all citizens. Councilor Belloni was allowed to put up a number of posters denied to us and to occupy entire tables in an unauthorized way. Why all this? For this reason we will file a complaint against the ICA company which allowed him to do what he denied to others. Finally, it is unacceptable that these violations of the law are also repeatedly committed by the vice president of the Marche regional council and candidate for mayor of Pesaro Andrea Biancani, who despite not having the legitimacy to do so continues to speak and intervene in multiple institutional events”.
What’s wrong
They press Lanzi and his electoral committee: «So much hypocrisy from the Democratic Party and its candidates. They preach democracy, but they violate the laws that are its basis: the democratic system is based precisely on respect for legality. Since my first interview as a mayoral candidate I declared that I would conduct a campaign that respected the rules, was correct and loyal. Mayor Matteo Ricci during the celebrations of April 25th repeatedly underlined the importance of defending our democracy. So is this the democracy these gentlemen have in mind? Failure to comply with the most basic rules? Defending democracy means first of all respecting the laws of our Republic, starting with those that regulate its highest expression: voting. Violating the law on equal conditions in such a continuous and obvious way is an attack on democracy, which is what some of its administrators are doing. Article 9 of law 28/2000 which regulates institutional communication is clear and prohibits overlaps between the role of candidate and the role of administrator. As a statesman and public order man who believes it is important to maintain civil tones, I have chosen not to bring this indignation to the streets. However, I ask the Prefect Emanuela Saverio Greco and the general secretary of the Municipality to clarify and defend our democracy. We want regular elections, conducted in a serene climate and with total respect for the laws.”
