ANCONA There will be an audience at Del Conero tomorrow evening for Ancona-Lucchese, a match worth an entire season and for which the red and white fans risked having the stadium doors closed in their faces for the initial half day. Instead, no closures, no limitations on the influx and presence of Ancona fans at the stadium. The decision that averted the risk of a match behind closed doors was very painful and came at lunchtime. It would have been a mockery for the Doric fans, a bitter conclusion to an already very troubled and suffered championship. After having accompanied and supported their team everywhere and having trembled for an unexpected and worrying involvement in the fight to maintain the C series, the red and white fans would have been deprived – we repeat it once again – of the possibility of living next to Ancona decisive act. Truly an unbearable paradox.

The decision

In reality, the Gos meeting ended with a favorable orientation towards the closure of the stadium. The intervention of the mayor Daniele Silvetti alongside the CEO of Ancona Roberta Nocelli was decisive in overturning the outcome of the affair, to induce the competent authorities to re-evaluate a decision that would have penalized the red and white people. Silvetti explains his decisive role to us: «Having taken note of the orientation that was developing at the technical table, I spoke with Nocelli and intervened to protect the city, the club and the Doric fans who were the injured party in Pescara . It seemed unfair to me that an excessively punitive decision was taken for the Ancona fans. A punishment they don’t deserve. I am satisfied that in the end common sense prevailed.”

The story

A very intense morning, with the city involved in anxiously awaiting the decision. The National Observatory on Sports Events on Wednesday evening with its own note had indicated the possibility of “limiting decisions” for the Ancona-Lucchese match. As a result, the company had to temporarily suspend the pre-sale of tickets pending the decisions referred to yesterday’s Gos meeting in the Prefecture. It all stems from the excesses that occurred last Sunday at the Adriatico stadium in Pescara where some of the local fans had approached the sector occupied by the 741 Ancona supporters and had given rise to invectives and throwing of objects, with a reaction from the guests. Unfortunately, some of the police who intervened to quell the riots paid the price. In this regard, investigations are still underway to trace those responsible for the scuffles during which an official from the Pescara Police Headquarters, three soldiers from the Guardia di Finanza and a policeman were injured. The investigations involving both groups of fans are aimed at adopting the Daspo measure. Sad and deplorable events, which should never occur and which must be censored without any distinction. An entire fan base who in the recent past has always demonstrated responsible behavior was at risk of paying the price. Instead, residents in the province of Pescara were banned from traveling to Fermo.

The presale

The ghosts of a closure of the Del Conero have been swept away, with advance sales going ahead since yesterday evening. Very few tickets were sold to guests, only five before closing on Wednesday. In the end, Lucchese fans should not exceed fifty. There will be many people from Ancona instead. It is not excluded that the box office record will be broken, after all Ancona will play for salvation in ninety minutes and the city will make its large and warm presence felt like many times in the past.
