On the occasion of‘Annual meeting of the ICA of our province, the awards ceremony for the pioneering members of the steering wheel was held on 24 April in a scenario of strong participation. After the approval of the positive final balance sheet for the year 2023, 13 driving pioneers with more than 50 years of obtaining a driving license received a certificate of recognition, not only for their seniority behind the wheel, but also for their absence , in the long career of motorists, of accidents with consequences on people or which have led to the suspension of the license. A celebration strongly supported by the President Fabrizio Panesi and by the entire Board of Directors of ACI Apuano together with the director Dr. Bianca Abruzzese, to continue that ideal path which, starting from street veterans, also wants to reach the very young, as demonstrated by the work carried out in schools and comprehensive institutes of our Province, in which an intense prevention activity was carried out again this year, aimed at transmitting the principles and values of road safety from an early age. President Panesi took the opportunity to thank the Prefect Guido Aprea, the Regional Councilor Giacomo Bugliani and the Mayor Francesco Persiani, for their participation in the Assembly, supporting with their presence the institutional significance of the event and hoping that the next future sees the widest collaboration between the Bodies according to a network logic, a principle so dear to this Automobile Club. Before entering into the merits of the Assembly, the President asks for a minute’s attention in order to remember the Vice President Luciano Ugatti, recently passed away, whose commitment to the Automobile Club dates back to 2010; on behalf of the organisation, a plaque was given to his wife, Mrs. Rita Puntelli, in memory of his friend Luciano whose commitment, dedication and great humanity that characterized his work, both in the life of ‘An organization that outside of itself will remain in our hearts. The work of the Assembly continued with the awarding of the pioneers of driving. In thanking those present for their testimony in driving, the President underlined the need for mobility that respects everyone and in particular vulnerable road users. Among the driving veterans, a special mention was reserved for Mr. Salvatore Falconi, 101 years old, who recently renewed his driving license and whose long and virtuous life behind the wheel was highlighted, an example of behavior for young people and adults, and for ‘Eng. Giovanni Giromella, historical member of the Club, who graduated in 1967 by presenting a thesis at the Faculty of Engineering in Pisa which theorized the advent of electric cars. The thesis was presented during the Assembly. The President recalled that the initiatives implemented by the Organization – from sport to road safety education to the services offered to users – were possible thanks to the collaboration of the entire ACI world, from the management to the staff, to the delegations and to the SARA Agencies Insurance.
