For Piedmont it is cycling time.

On Saturday 4 May the Giro d’Italia starts from Venaria Reale for the first stage (143 km) with a route entirely in the metropolitan city of Turin:

Borgaro, Mappano, Leinì, Chivasso and then up the hill to reach Superga on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Grande Torino tragedy. The route of the stage will end with a hilly circuit through Colle della Maddalena, Revigliasco, Moncalieri and San Vito with arrival on the Lungo Po. The next three stages will also touch Piedmont: San Francesco al Campo/Oropa, Novara/Fossano, from Acqui Terme the Giro will leave the Piedmontese territory, from Calizzano it will descend to Savona with arrival in Andora.

On July 1st the third stage of the Tour de France (which this year will start in Italy from Florence) will arrive in Turin at the Palasport Inalpi Arena passing in the final stretch at Stupinigi Nichelino. The Tour caravan will stop at the Palazzina di Caccia coming from Carmagnola, Carignano, Piobesi and Vinovo. The following day the Grande Boucle will depart from Pinerolo to return to France through the Alpine passes that have made the history of cycling.

Meanwhile, the historic departure of the Vuelta (the Tour of Spain) from Piedmont is looming for 2025.
