Syracuse, NY — Canadian linebacker Antoine Deslauriers, who plays high school football in Georgia, verbally committed to Syracuse on Friday, becoming the school’s 18th verbal commitment in the Class of 2025.

According to the recruiting website 247 Sports only Notre Dame, which has 19 verbal commitments, has more than the Orange for 2025 at this point. Verbal commitments are not binding until after a player signs their National Letter of Intent.

Deslauriers lists himself at 6-foot-1 and 235 pounds. He is ranked as a three-star prospect by On3.com and ESPN, and he has not yet been ranked by Rivals or 247 Sports.

ESPN ranks him as the No. 14 inside linebacker prospect in the country and the 53rd best player in Georgia. On3 ranks him as the country’s No. 80 prospect among linebackers.

247 Sports reports that over the course of his high school career he has received offers from Florida State, Auburn, Notre Dame, Miami, Mississippi and more.

According to his social media, over the past two months, Despauriers has visited the campuses of Louisville, North Carolina, South Carolina, Central Florida and Miami. He said he would be on Syracuse’s campus this weekend.

Deslauriers is Syracuse’s only commitment in 2025 who is listed as a linebacker by 247 Sports, although the Orange does have commitments from edge rusher Sharlandiin Strange.

Deslauriers plays football at Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School, a private boarding school in Rabun Gap, Georgia.

Despite being located in Georgia the school competes in the North Carolina Independent School Athletic Association. It finished last season 13-1 and lost in the league’s championship game.

According to MaxPreps.com Deslauriers finished second on the team with 72 tackles, including 18 tackles for loss. He recorded two sacks, three interceptions and forced two fumbles.

On his social media, Deslauriers says that he ran the 40 in 4.61 seconds and has a 39-inch vertical jump..

Boosted by the number of commitments in 2025, Syracuse’s class is currently ranked by 247 Sports as No. 2 in the ACC and No. 9 in the country. The Orange has a commitment from a four-star prospect, 15 three-star prospects and two players who aren’t currently ranked.
