Umberto Fusco: “The Prefect of Viterbo should evaluate the Army’s intervention to re-establish security in the capital”

VITERBO – We receive and publish: “The latest events that have occurred in the capital regarding security, and in particular the umpteenth big fight that took place this afternoon in Piazza dei Caduti, require serious reflection, which has been faced too many times but never resolved.

As I have already asked in the past to the territorial representatives of the Interior Ministry who have succeeded one another in recent years, I believe it is necessary to also ask the new prefect of Viterbo Dr. Gennaro Capo to also provide an Army garrison in Viterbo, which has already been introduced in numerous other cities of the country.

A garrison of the Armed Forces in the most “sensitive” areas of the capital, alongside the forces of law and order and the local police, would act as a deterrent to the occurrence of events such as today’s and would make it possible to stop new phenomena of petty crime from arising, giving greater sense of security for the people of Viterbo and the tourists who frequent our historic center.

I hope that the representative of the Government, whom I thank for the work he is carrying out in our province, can concretely evaluate this proposal of mine in the interest of the community”.

Sen. Umberto Fusco
