The ship Carnival Fun Italian Style 5,000-passenger vessel will sail year-round from the Port of Long Beach
Long Beach – “Carnival Cruise Line solidified its position as California’s leading cruise line on Wednesday by naming its newest ship, Carnival Firenze, at its new home, the Long Beach Cruise Terminal.” With these words the American company announced the passage of the former Costa Firenze to the Carnival Cruise Line fleet.
The Hollywood actor Jonathan Bennett was the godfather of the ship, in an ‘Italian style’ ceremony, with music by Puccini and the blessing of a priest.
The ship Carnival Fun Italian Style The 5,000-passenger ship will sail year-round from the Port of Long Beach, adding significant capacity and joining the two Carnival ships that currently sail year-round: the 5,100-passenger Carnival Panorama and the nearly 4,000-passenger Carnival Radiance.
“Carnival Firenze – explains the company – is part of a significant expansion that has added five ships to the Carnival fleet in the last 18 months. By next year, Carnival will embark more than 750,000 guests from Long Beach on more than 200 sailings, an increase of 100,000 guests compared to 2019”.
The ship is the last ship Carnival in order of time to use cold ironing and joins Carnival Panorama and Carnival Radiance, which already connect to the electricity grid while docked in Long Beach instead of running their engines.
The 2020-built Carnival Firenze completed a 49-day dry dock in Cadiz, Spain, which integrated features Carnival Fun Italian Style in ship design.
The ship will sail itineraries of varying lengths, with cruises lasting three to seven days in Baja Mexico and the Mexican Riviera open for sale from now until spring 2026.
The ship set sail Thursday afternoon for a seven-day cruise to Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlán and Cabo San Lucas.
