VITTORIA – Vittoria city councilor Giuseppe Cannizzo and retired general practitioner didn’t make it. At the age of 70 he died, after being admitted to intensive care, due to a fatal fall from a tree. Mayor Francesco Aiello gave the dire news: “A few minutes ago we learned that Dr. passed away. Giuseppe Cannizzo, city councilor, democratic Catholic, politically engaged and present on the council for years. He had the great ability to weave an open, sincere and loyal dialogue with the democratic, popular and left-wing components, without ever losing his original political and cultural connotation of democratic Catholicism. The well-known professional had recently stopped practicing and was retiring.
He was hospitalized at the Cannizzaro hospital in Catania, where he had been transferred due to a fall from a tree which caused him to hemorrhage. His condition initially remained stationary, but then worsened, and in the afternoon he passed away. On my personal behalf, on behalf of the council, the council and the entire city, I express my condolences and closeness to the family of a very dear, unforgettable friend”.
