Everything is also ready for the Forza Italia lists in Sicily. The six island candidates in constituency 5, Sardinia Sicily (in total there will be two missing which it is up to Sardinia to indicate) will be presented to the press tomorrow morning in Palermo.
The sextet now seems very clearly defined but not all the candidates are a direct expression of Forza Italia.
The names of the candidates
The names, barring any surprises, are clear: there are the two councilors who represent the souls of the party in the East and West. These are Edy Tamajo and Marco Falcone who have already been on the electoral campaign for some time.
In the islands college there are, then, two women in compliance with alternation, namely the other blue woman and coordinator of Forza Italia in Messina or the former regional councilor Bernadette Grasso which completes the representation of the souls of the Island, at least of the three large metropolitan cities. The second woman is Caterina Chinnici, outgoing MEP and former challenger of Schifani in the race for the Presidency of the Region. Regional councilor at the time of Raffaele Lombardo as President, then moving to the Democratic Party albeit as an outsider, finally landing in the good graces of President Schifani last year, Chinnici is running with a writing that leaves no doubt on the electoral leaflet: “Movement for Autonomy ”. She is the representative on the list of the agreement between Forza Italia and MpA.
Then there is another name resulting from an agreement, the latter of a national nature which provides for a candidate for each of the 5 electoral colleges in the European elections in Italy. It’s about Maximus of Utri, coordinator of Noi Moderati in Sicilia, Nisseno lawyer indicated by Saverio Romano’s party for the Isole constituency. The agreement was publicly signed in Rome and is a political pact, not an electoral one. The reference area is that of central Sicily being, from Utri, Nisseno but the moderate votes will converge on him from all over Sicily, at the last European Championships Romano personally came second in this race hosted on the Forza Italia lists.
Adding the Forzista candidate from Agrigento that is Margherita La Rocca Ruvolo, the sextet is complete.
The surprises and the distinctions
The surprise Luisa Lantieri, candidate guarantor of a pact with Cuffaro’s DC, may not be there at all but there could be surprises of a different nature.
Saverio Romano’s party seems not to have appreciated the lack of involvement in calling the press conference. so much so that the Sicilian leader of Noi Moderati specifies to Italpress “This is a political operation and not an electoral one. It is not a list of purpose, but we have a purpose – also through this list – which is to make the European People’s Party stronger through the success of the Italian section of the European People’s Party which in this electoral competition is represented by Forza Italia and by We Moderates, as the symbol is composed.”
Looking at the People’s Party
No real tension but tonight’s statements seem like a way to clarify to voters, if not allies, how things are. to say, without saying it, that the objective is not only to bring electoral water but to strengthen the center of the Center-Right with a vision of a single party in a future that is close enough if not immediate
“This is a project that must aim to unify all the forces that are inspired by the liberal and popular movements present in Italy and that are members of the European People’s Party, or in any case are inspired by the European People’s Party – underlined Romano -. Therefore, it is a project that is not only this electoral occasion, but in perspective it is a project that will bring these forces together. In this electoral competition with our symbol we will try to bring the list votes to the maximum possible expression, so much so that we areeveryone, Lupi in the lead, is committed to voting for Antonio Tajani as head of the list in the four constituencies where he is a candidate and therefore Lupi did not run to stand alongside Tajani in this battle which sees him personally involved as vice president of the European People’s Party”.

In recent days Tajani explained how a void has been filled with Noi Moderati and that the two parties together can manage to exceed 10%: “We are focusing a lot on list voting – added Romano -. We have also reported some of our candidacies in the constituencies, but for US the priority is the list vote and the vote for Antonio Tajani. Then obviously we gave our ruling class the opportunity to measure themselves as the ruling class of Forza Italia is measuring itself, but there is no such distinction between our candidates and those of Forza Italia because the common objective is to achieve a result important for the list exceeding two digits“.
In Sicily without Tajani, I vote to unite and not divide
Finally, Romano spoke about the situation in Sicily, where Tajani is not a candidate: “We have expressed a candidacy at the highest level which is that of our regional coordinator, Massimo Dell’Utri, but together with him we will also vote for other candidates and we will make the triplet . It is not a competition where we intend to go alone for the simple reason that our contribution must be unitive and not divisive and therefore also in this logic we are moving in this direction”.
