The municipal police officers, in collaboration with the Carabinieri of Palermo Centro, during the usual checks in the places of nightlife in recent days, intervened in Via Spinuzza and between Corso Vittorio Emanuele and Via Chiavettieri. In the first case they seized an illegal gazebo and unauthorized equipment for musical entertainment, in the second case they sealed a place due to serious hygienic, health and structural deficiencies. High fines of almost 17 thousand euros. The names of the sanctioned commercial activities were not provided.

In a room in via Spinuzza the operators proceeded with the preventive criminal seizure of a gazebo, the perimeter wall of the structure and the related reinforced concrete screed as they totally lacked the necessary concessions. The officers who intervened found an illegal occupation of public land amounting to 208 square meters. Furthermore, since the occupied area is a property of significant historical-cultural interest, subject to monumental restrictions, the installation of unauthorized furnishings jeopardized not only public safety and traffic, but also the conservation and integrity of the historic paving in front of the premises, the subject of a very recent restoration project. The agents also proceeded with the precautionary administrative seizure of the equipment for outdoor musical entertainment, as required by the new municipal regulation on nightlife, with the consequent additional sanction of the application of the closure of the public establishment for a period of no less than five days, arranged by the Municipality’s One Stop Shop.

The owner of the premises in via Spinuzza was reported for the following criminal offences: illegal construction of a building structure; use of a building structure before issuing the static test certificate; use of a building structure before the issuance of the anti-seismic authorization; arbitrary invasion and occupation of a portion of maritime state property in order to profit from it with a structure; defacing things of historical and artistic interest; damage to the road surface.
