“Creative Twin Cities” at the Florence International Crafts Show

From carving to lace, from lanterns to tea. At the Thanks to the collaboration with Artex, the International Crafts Exhibition currently underway in Florence is taking part in the Creative Twin Cities project, specific platform for international cooperation in the cultural and creative industry.

Creative Twin Cities presents an exhibition of traditional Chinese craftsmanship, showing the Italian public the degree of innovation and cultural significance of traditional Chinese craftsmanship, through products of over 10 brands of innovative craftsmanship and intangible cultural heritage from China. Among them, Hangzhou Arts and Crafts Museum, Shanghai Arts and Crafts Company Limited, Laofengxiang Company Limited, Zju Cultural and Creative Development Co., Ltd, Panda Alliance, Fang Hui Chun Tang, Chuquan Culture, Plant of the Secret Realm, Nu Bao and others, together with inheritors of intangible cultural heritage such as Tang Jian, Zhu Jun, Fan Shujun, Chen Xuqi, Shen Ningqiang.

The exhibition presents products spanning nearly 20 categories and techniquessuch as Qingxi dragon inkstone, topiary, grass dragon, seal carving, Xiaoshan lace, fan art, hemp embroidery, copper vases, Li Shang Ren lanterns, Xihu silk umbrellas, paper cutouts , aromatherapy, cultural derivatives, panda toys, art toys, tea and more.

“Through the display of products and on-site experiences of traditional Chinese craftsmanship, Creative Twin Cities showcases the modern innovation and cultural significance of traditional Chinese craftsmanship, creating a cultural bridge between Italy and China through artisan knowledge” comments Sara Biagiotti of Artex management.

As part of the project, the conference to promote the “Hangzhou Arts and Crafts Museum”, an important museum for the artistic and artisan tradition of the Chinese city of Hangzhou. The meeting is part of the activity that Creative City is carrying out with the Hangzhou government and was followed by an evening event of cultural exchange in the presence of entrepreneurs, political figures, and the administrations of Hangzhou and Souzhou.
