The Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of Avellino, in continuing the constant control action of the territory promoted by the Prefect of Avellino, Dr. Paola Spena, intensified, even in the days preceding April 25th, its action to prevent and combat the predatory crime.
On the basis of these provisions, the Mirabella Eclano Company has coordinated targeted preventive actions in the municipalities of Montemiletto, Mirabella Eclano and in those of the Ufita Valley, arranging the overall use of over 90 crews who have patrolled the areas of interest in the last 5 days .
In Frigento, the timely intervention of three “gazelles” forced a group of five individuals who, with their faces covered, were attempting to break into a company in the industrial area, to make a hasty escape across the fields.
In the early hours of last Monday, in a peripheral area of Mirabella Eclano, the Carabinieri found a scooter that had been stolen shortly before, abandoned in the street. The vehicle was returned to the rightful owner.
Overall, around 230 vehicles were checked, and among the occupants, around fifteen were subjected to immediate personal and vehicle searches.
Among these, a 30-year-old, already known to the police, checked in a district of Frigento, was reported for personal use of narcotic substances, since a few grams of hashish were found inside the car in which he was travelling. The same measure was adopted against a 20-year-old from Torre le Nocelle, who was also found in possession of a few grams of narcotic substance after a vehicle check carried out in Montemiletto.
During the service, we also proceeded with the notification of a “Notice of conclusion of preliminary investigations” issued by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Benevento towards a 60-year-old from the province of Irpinia, investigated for an alleged sexual assault, perpetrated last summer against a girl, inside a public place.
The military personnel also proceeded to release a young man from the province of Naples, known to the police, who a few months ago, through the well-known technique staged by pretending to be a relative in need, had attempted to get himself credit approximately one thousand euros from an elderly person from Villamaina. The intense investigations conducted by the Carabinieri of the Mirabella Eclano station made it possible to trace the alleged perpetrator of the deplorable crime.
