on May 7th free visits and spirometry tests

MESSINA – Tuesday 7 May screening and information to shine a spotlight on asthma in children. The Aou G. Martino of Messina adheres to World Asthma Day and is also promoting a dedicated open day this year. From 9am to 1pm, on floor 1 of the NI pavilion, at the Pediatric Allergology Clinic – will be carried out free visits and spirometries.
To facilitate a more functional organization of the day, a maximum number of twenty visits has been foreseen: to participate it is necessary to book by sending an email to the email address: [email protected]

This is an initiative promoted in collaboration with the Italian Society of Childhood Respiratory Diseases (Simri), with the Italian Society of Paediatrics (Sip), with Federasma, a federation that brings together the associations of asthmatic patients and AsmaAllergia Bimbi; a day that since 1998, on the proposal of the Global Initiative for Asthma (Gina), has always been celebrated on the first Tuesday of May.

“Bronchial asthma – explains the prof. ssa Malgorzata Wasniewska, UOC Director of Paediatrics – is one of the most widespread chronic diseases in pediatric age. Acute asthma attacks often cause a high number of visits, both to our clinics and to the pediatric emergency room, resulting in hospital admissions in various circumstances.”

The event coordinated by Dr. Sara Manti, Researcher at the UOC of Pediatrics and member of the regional section of Simri, sees the participation of Drs. Giuseppe Crisafulli and Lucia Caminiti pediatricians specialists in Allergology, assisted by Dr. Francesca Galletta.

“Occasions like this – says prof. Carmelo Romeo, Director of the Mother and Child Department – represent a screening opportunity and a concrete possibility, also for families, to acquire greater awareness of asthma to understand how to best prevent and manage the disease in everyday life”.
