Green light to strengthen road safety services in Rimini, particularly during summer weekends. The municipal council has in fact approved the renewal of the “Sun Project” for the two-year period 2024-2025, active throughout the municipal territory since 2013. The project – called “Enhancement of Urban Nighttime Security (2024-2025): modifications” provides, as explained the administration, some actions “aimed at ensuring a greater presence of the local police in the area, to prevent those dangerous violations that put the safety of citizens and road safety at risk”. 80,000 euros per year have been allocated for its implementation.
In detail, Sun allows the control of the territory by the police “with extended hours compared to the ordinary one – clarifies the administration – concentrating on nights where there is a greater need for supervision and greater road safety needs, in particular on the nights between Friday and Saturday and between Saturday and Sunday”. The enhancement of services is valid from July 1st to August 31st, from Thursday to Sunday and in the remaining period of the year, during the weekend, from 1 am to 7 am. In addition to this, the project can also be extended on pre-holiday and holiday days, corresponding to midweek holidays or on the occasion of institutional, cultural and tourist promotion events. In particular, it will focus on the safety of the city’s road traffic, through a planning of traffic police checks with controls in the sections with high accident rates and with checks on driving while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs.
