“The economic and financial document voted by Parliament confirms the downward trend in Italian healthcare spending compared to GDP. Faced with the prospect of new cuts to health services and the consequent worsening of social and territorial inequalities, the bill first signed by Elly Schlein for the relaunch of the National Health Service takes on an indisputable priority”. This is what the regional councilor of the Democratic Party states, Amalia Brunivice president of the Health Commission.

“The Democratic Party group managed to schedule the discussion in the Social Affairs Commission – states Bruni – It is important that this is discussed as soon as possible. It is a reasonable and common sense proposal, which starts from the profound critical issues that our national health system is experiencing today and from the difficulties that millions of Italian families encounter every day in being able to receive treatment”.

“The proposal envisages increase investment in healthcare over five years public until it reaches 7.5% of GDP, i.e. the EU average. With this proposal we will definitively overcome the spending ceiling for personnel and promote an extraordinary plan to hire figures essential to running hospitals and services in the area”.

“It is the same proposal that the Regional Councils of Emilia Romagna, Tuscany, Marche and Piedmont, led by councils of different political persuasions, sent to Parliament. We hope – concludes Bruni – that all political forces, including those of the majority, will want to discuss positively: these are rules that clearly indicate the desire for relaunch and reform which the NHS urgently needs”.
