PESARO – Statue of Pavarotti, at the ceremony there will be his daughters Giuliana and Cristina, his wife Nicoletta Mantovani, the director and set designer Pier Luigi Pizzi. There will be the figures dearest to the Maestro Luciano Pavarotti, Saturday 27 April, at 7pm, in Piazzale Lazzarinifor the unveiling ceremony of bronze sculpturewhich the Capital will dedicate to “its” Luciano Pavarotti“in the extraordinary year of Pesaro 2024”.

From a height of 192cmresting on a marble base, the bronze work is made with the lost wax casting technique, by Albano Poli. It will be presented by Andrea Mezzetti, artistic assistant of maestro Poli who will intervene during the event promoted by Pesaro 2024 and in which they will participate Giuliana and Cristina Pavarotti (daughters of the tenor; the mayor and deputy mayor were at their side during the laying of the Maestro’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2022), Nicoletta Mantovani (wife and president of the Pavarotti Foundation with which the city has formed an intense bond), the director and set designer Pier Luigi Pizzi, protagonist of the ROF for 40 years. A Festival that owes a lot to Pavarotti. It was he who inaugurated the renovated Rossini Theater in April 1980 after 14 years of closure, an anniversary which gave further impetus to a project, that of a Rossini festival in Pesaro, which saw the light a few months later. It was he again, in 1986, who enchanted the ROF audience with a historic concert in Piazza del Popolo. And finally, in 1996, it was he who inaugurated the current Vitrifrigo Arena, in which the Rossini Opera Festival staged some of its latest greatest successes.

«Pesaro, UNESCO Creative City of Music and Italian Capital of Culture 2024 – recall the mayor and deputy mayor – owes so much to the Maestro who here intertwined human, supportive and creative bonds. And just the Rossini will welcome after the statue ceremony, at 9pmthe delivery of Pesaro Music Awards 2024, an award created by the Rossini Symphony Orchestra, in collaboration with the Municipality of Pesaro and the support of OSR Xanitalia “for those excellent personalities in the music sector, who have or have had contacts and links with the city of Pesaro”. The following will receive recognition in the fifth edition of the Awards: Pier Luigi Pizzidirector, set designer, costume designer, artistic director and writer linked to Pesaro – which awarded him honorary citizenship in 2022 – by numerous productions curated for the Rossini Opera Festival; Italy Festival, the multidisciplinary association formed which today represents 43 Italian festivals and 4 festival networks, which operate in the fields of music, theatre, performing arts and dance, and literature; the “tenor par excellence”, his wife Nicoletta Mantovani, president of the Foundation, will receive the award Luciano Pavarotti. The ceremony is part of the concert of the G. Rossini Symphony Orchestra, led by the resident conductor, M° Noris Borgogelli. The musical program includes a tribute to Giacomo Puccini, whose 100th anniversary of his death will be in 2024.
