PALERMO – AAssarmatori’s appointment in Palermo for the third Career Day, Friday 3 May. Initiative aimed above all at young people, with the aim of making the new generations rediscover and learn about the career of the sea, a tough but fascinating profession, ancient but modern at the same time. Providing certain answers thanks to meetings with those who are already pursuing this career.

After the success of the Career Days in Livorno and Torre del Greco, the Assarmatori “format” is therefore also repeated in Palermo. The day is divided into appointments: the morning one, from 9.30 am to 1.00 pm, at the “Pietro Piazza” Professional Institute in Corso dei Mille; And in the afternoon, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, at the “Gioeni-Trabia” Nautical Higher Education Institute in via Vittorio Emanuele.

“The wide participation we found in Livorno and Torre del Greco, with hundreds of young people who wanted to be present at a moment in which we intend to bring together job supply and demand, pushed us to continue our objective of developing Career Days all over Italy – comments Giovanni Consoli, deputy general secretary of Assarmatori – and the double stage in Palermo fits precisely into this context. The shipping industry is in fact struggling with a shortage of maritime personnel which has taken on emergency features, in particular during the summer season: for this reason, also following the Interministerial Decree of last November which allocated important economic resources for the training of new professionalism on the part of the companies, these meetings are necessary. The contribution of the General Directorate of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport for the Supervision of the Port System Authorities, maritime and inland waterway transport was decisive for the realization of this project”.
