TURIN – Great debut at the Italian Paralympic freediving championships in Turin for the athletes of the Rovigo Divers Club.
The club active for fifty years in the city in the sector of promotion and training of sport diving and for 25 years in the freediving sector, with several important results at an Italian level, in the competitive freediving sector, began its activity a few months ago paralympic competition always in the freediving sector.
The athletes participated in the Italian Paralympic freediving championship which took place last weekend in Turin in the Olympic swimming pool of the Trecate facility in the center of Piedmont, achieving flattering results given the practically absent experience in this type of competition, which ended with three golds and a silver for the three bearers of the Rovigo club which unexpectedly placed itself in fourth place in the club ranking ahead of a dozen much more experienced clubs on the national scene.
The athletes: the Lendina native Fabio Travaglini bi Italian category champion in dynamic apnea with Dynb fins and without Dnf, and the rodigini Michela Dal Bianco dynamic apnea category champion without fins Dnf, e Pierluigi Bonafin Italian vice champion Elite without fins Dnf, who came second despite having surpassed the previous Italian record by almost two meters with the measurement of 66 meters and 95 cm, which however was not enough to win the title because the outgoing champion who started after managed with a very difficult attempt to overtake him by about two metres.
However, the challenge between the two has now only been postponed, as it will probably be repeated at the World Cup in November where the experience gap will certainly be reduced.
Great satisfaction on the part of the technical staff and the entire club for the feat of the Rovigo standard bearers, who nDespite the difficulties caused by the closure of the city facility, and the consequent increase in expenses, and the logistical difficulties for training, they managed to achieve an unexpected result for a clubwell of athletes making their absolute debut in the competition.
