“No one educates themselves”, is a clear message that beneath the small phoneme ‘ə’ holds a world of possibilities. Those of a new educational community, to be built in Catania in an unconventional way, with the creation of Neighborhood workshops. These are the central themes of the round table – which will be held Tuesday 30 April at 10.00 at the 6th Town Hall, Strada San Giorgio, 27– which launches an initiative born within the project of the same name “Nessunə si educa da solə” created by the three associations SocialMeccanica Workshop (lead body), Punto & Accapo Social Cooperative, Rugby I Briganti ASD Onlus, With the’San Giorgio Comprehensive Institute and the “Nicola Spedalieri” State Classical High School. The initiative focuses attention on San Giorgio neighborhood and is among the three projects financed in Catania bySocial Business With Children for the development and strengthening of the educational community in educational emergency contexts.
“Popular education” for minors
The intent of the next actions is the creation of neighborhood ateliers, inspired by the model of the French citoyen ateliers and according to an approach of popular education of Freirian origin. The educational issues that emerged from an analysis of the needs that emerged from the project will be problematized monitoring of questionnaires, laboratory actions aimed at minors and training courses in community dramaturgy and Service Learning carried out at the San Giorgio Comprehensive Institute. The open and heterogeneous groups that will make up the Ateliers – involving residents And people who gravitate to the San Giorgio neighborhood – will be busy evaluating new tangible responses to the issues that have emerged, to then share them with the entire community community. The round table “Nobody educates themselves alone” is the first official moment of opening of the path of the Workshop of the neighborhood, at the same time it will become an opportunity to already spread the issues emerged and to grasp those to be addressed.
