The recognition is very respectable: Costanza Cipriani, a recent graduate of the international master’s degree in Engineering management at the University of Siena, is considered among the thousand Italian talents who have completed an academic path of excellence.

This is supported by the Italy-USA Foundation which awarded the young doctor with the America Giovani prize. Cipriani defended her thesis last year, achieving a mark of 110 cum laude.

The speaker of her paper, entitled “Real-time air quality monitoring with wearable iot sensors: enhancing environmental awareness through citizen science and data-driven Engagement”, is Professor Chiara Mocenni while Professor Patrizia Marti is the co-supervisor.

“In her work, Dr. Cipriani has designed and created a wearable sensor for the detection of air quality data, with the aim of encouraging citizen involvement in environmental monitoring in a context of data science and citizen science. The recent graduate is currently completing an internship at Gucci in the field of innovation, circular economy and sustainability, and she will soon be hired by the same fashion company to deal with business intelligence”, they explain from the university.

“I am very happy for this important and well-deserved recognition obtained by Costanza – commented Professor Chiara Mocenni – who from the first moment stood out for her seriousness, motivation and courage. Qualities that have allowed her to tackle a highly interdisciplinary curriculum, which to many might seem impossible. This award is significant, not only for Costanza, but also for me personally, who welcomed and accompanied Costanza on her journey from the beginning, and for the University of Siena. Interdisciplinary paths are increasingly promoted by many universities and I believe that it is a necessary path to allow young people, who have the future of all of us in their hands, to understand the complexity of the behaviors and mechanisms that we can no longer avoid observing on a daily basis around we”.
