For me there are no starters: I watch the training sessions, trying to make as few mistakes as possible. We are in an emergency: we lack midfielders, while there are many of us in attack. Oukhadda has never trained during the week, he is not very ready to play 90 minutes. We tried some solutions that made me very confident. Compared to Sunday, beyond Riccio’s disqualification, there will be one or two changes. Santoro? On Saturday he played a superlative game in midfield, he won’t play full-back. Goal problem and long range shot? Bozhanaj is a player who can become important next year. He has important qualities: I have to teach him where to receive the ball. We tried different situations, then it’s the qualities of the players that make the difference at certain moments of the match. On Saturday we suffered in the central phase of the match, perhaps also due to the upheaval brought about by the new coach and a physical decline.
In terms of work, we had a very busy and intense week. For me the most important match now is the one on Saturday, then we will think about the derby against Reggiana. Derbies are not played, but they are won, they are games in themselves and there will be little time to prepare.
Physical condition? Athletically the team is doing well, but a lot depends on the way they play. I ask for a ferocious application, which wastes a lot of energy from the players. Four or five of them ended up with cramps on Saturday. On Saturday we readjusted ourselves with the substitutions, now we are a little short, being without four-five important players.
Battistella reminds me of Parolo, he has the same characteristics as Parolo except he doesn’t believe in them. I will have to create this mentality here. If he doesn’t score four or five goals in the championship it’s a crime. I have to trust him, because he has an important heritage for Modena.
I’d like to move our bench under our curve. I would like to start tomorrow, to create a slightly more familiar environment. We need our people and people need to be close to us.
