During a significant ceremony held this morning in the “Hall of Mirrors” of Palazzo di Città, the mayor of Taranto, Rinaldo Melucci, celebrated the prestigious result achieved by four students, graduated from the Jonico Department in “Legal and Economic Systems of Mediterranean”, winners of the “America Giovani” award.
Promoted by the Italia USA Foundation to valorise young talents who have become protagonists of a brilliant university study path, the recognition intends to praise the commitment of students who deal with specific topics capable of preparing for that multidisciplinary knowledge which will then facilitate entry into the world of Work.
This year, the prize was awarded to doctors Monica Arcadio, Rebecca Davoli, Claudia Perrone and Vania Tucci, all graduates in “Legal sciences for immigration, human rights and interculturality”, a very recently established course which aims to acquire targeted legal skills necessary to address extremely current issues, such as those related to immigration, the protection of human rights and the management of different cultures.
“I would like to congratulate Monica, Claudia, Rebecca and Vania for the extraordinary result achieved as a culmination of sacrifices, commitment and determination– declared Mayor Melucci on the sidelines of the ceremony – But I would also like to add that for them, what has been achieved must not represent a point of arrival. On the contrary. It must be considered a launching pad, the beginning of a path that will lead them to be part of a new capable ruling class, prepared and ready to face the challenges that the future holds for us.”
At the end of the meeting, which was also attended by the director of the Department, Prof. Paolo Pardolesi, and the Councilor for Public Education, University and School Buildings of the Municipality of Taranto, Désirée Petrosillo, the mayor gave the four new graduates a parchment celebration with the wish for a future full of successes and achievements.
