Sesto San Giovanni doesn’t stop. And to do so it relies on important public works also intercepting funds from the Pnrr. In these days the mayor Roberto Di Stefano wanted to visit the spaces of an important construction site to view the progress of the works.
We are talking about the construction site of the Savona nursery school, the subject of a total redevelopment intervention for a total amount of over 3 million euros, financed for more than 2 million from the PNRR and for 800 thousand from the Municipality. The works, which started on November 28, 2023, are in full swing and will be completed as scheduled by next year.
The great news of the ongoing project is that it will be inside the structure a space of continuity to allow moments of sharing between the children of the nursery and those of the nearby nursery school.
The old building that stands in the Cascina Gatti district in the Marzabotto area, an educational point of reference for the city, was definitely not up to expectations. Its prefabricated structure, imagine, was born as a temporary structure in the 70s. And instead it remained there for 50 years. Only our planning allowed us to raise the funds for its regeneration. Demolition work is now underway, then we will proceed with the reconstruction of the building using resistant, sustainable and cutting-edge materials and systems.
The new walls will be built with latest generation wooden panelsnew electrical, lighting, fire prevention and anti-intrusion systems will be created, heat pumps with high energy efficiency will come into operation, a photovoltaic system will be installed on the roofing, a transparent and bright internal patio will arise in the center of the structure, embellished by the presence of many plants, and paths and green spaces will be created outside.
For its rebirth we took inspiration from more inclusive and modern pedagogical principles: the spaces of the new Savona will guarantee maximum comfort for children, who, we remind you, fall into the age range from 0 to 3 years.
The new project starts from the current plan but completely redefines the spaces to increase the connection points between the internal and external areas. Let’s talk about a total surface area of almost 3 thousand square metres which will be completely reorganized to become a generator of new experiences for children.
Thanks to the use of natural materials, children will be able to learn about the world through tactile experiences.
Everything will really change: the currently lateral entrance, will be placed in the center of the building and it will be welcoming, reassuring, protective. The structure will obviously be safer thanks to a large fence.
The flooring will be made with modern thermoplastic materials which combine the quality of wood and the maximum durability of polyethylene against the elements.
The new Savona it will be truly innovative: windows, transparency, wood, natural materials, large sharing spaces, green areas, renewable energy, safety, inclusion, everything to give the maximum educational experience to the only and true protagonists, the children.
