Elections in Montesilvano, the League dumps De Martinis and focuses on Aliano

This was made official by a statement released by Luigi D’Eramoregional secretary of the Carroccio: “During the last meeting of the provincial coordination of the League of Pescara it was decided, unanimously, that the mayoral candidate for the League in the next municipal elections of Montesilvano will be Anthony Aliano, long-time administrator. Montesilvano represents a strategic city in the path of good governance and the victories of the center-right in Abruzzo in recent years. We work daily for the unity and compactness of the centre-right, values shared by all the parties that make up the coalition”.
The conclusion of the note sounds a little mocking: because De Martinis will remain on the pitch and will have the support of both Forza Italia and Fratelli d’Italia. In the first case the support has already been crystallized a few days ago by the coordinator of the province of Pescara Lorenzo Sighs, who mentioned that of Montesilvano among the mayors to be aimed at reconfirming; in the second, he thought about confirming his support, directly consulted by capoluogo.it, Stefano Cardelliprovincial coordinator of the party of Giorgia Meloni.
We are therefore moving towards a centre-right split in the dispute of one of the three cities in Abruzzo with over fifteen thousand inhabitants (the others are Pescara and Giulianova) where there will be voting on 8 and 9 June, involved in the process of forming the new Pescara. The League chooses the hostile move to make up for the defeat of what it believes to be a disengagement by De Martinis, who in theory was referring precisely to the Northern League, in the regional elections. It is considered by the Northern League staff in Abruzzo to be the cause of the disappointing result in the city. It is another episode of a series that has seen D’Eramo’s party committed for some time in the region to counteract the hemorrhage of votes and representatives to the advantage of Forza Italia and above all of Fratelli d’Italia. The guerrilla war in the province of Pescara is particularly bloody, given that here the Northern League members have to face not only the strength of the Brothers of Italy but also a significant electoral consistency of the Forza Italia supporters. In recent weeks the League had come to question the re-nomination of the mayor of the Adriatic city Carlo Masci, by Forza Italia. Furthermore, in the city of Pescara the “flight” of candidates from the League towards the shores of the other parties and lists of the coalition is very noticeable. The latest one makes some noise: it’s the president of the city council Marcello Antonelli.
