The operation “Let’s free the Salerno seafront from the stopped construction site in Piazza Cavour has officially started. From this morning, motivating it with reasons of interest linked to public safety, the municipality of Salerno began to remove the part of the construction site that was encroaching on the road, causing a narrowing and therefore slowing down traffic and even emergency vehicles. The councilor for mobility of the Municipality of Salerno was present at the start of the bulldozer work Rocco Galdi. It is the first point in his favor in the tug of war that broke out between the municipal administration and the company that was supposed to build the underground garages but which due to a series of bureaucratic obstacles, including a dispute with the Italian railway network for the passage of tracks slowed down until the Municipality of Salerno decided to terminate the contract. Before the entire area can be freed, it will take more time because there is a real legal dispute underway but, in the meantime, the Municipality of Salerno has seen fit to start, from this morning, the works to restore the original road network in the streets adjacent to Piazza Cavour in Salerno. “At some times of the day, construction activities could cause slowdowns in vehicular traffic in the area – we read in a note from the Municipality of Salerno – This is the first phase of the integral recovery program of the square” .
