How do you explain Catania’s season?
“I lived in Catania for 14 years and I continue to live there, I know all the situations, including external ones. I strongly think that there hasn’t been what there could have been in our time, the objectives are the final ones but we haven’t managed to have the continuity necessary to do well. They lost sight of what was the primary objective, which was to remove themselves from the playouts as soon as possible. They had a seven point lead over Turris, they slowly regained their lead and the first half against Sorrento is emblematic of the period that Catania is experiencing. We will need unity with the public and there has never been any doubt about this, we will need the right push in this match from inside or outside and try to win the challenge from the first minute. They face a very difficult opponent given that Benevento is the team that has scored the most points in the second round, fortunately, Benevento’s fate depends on Avellino.”
If they reach the playoffs, can Catania really be the loose cannon and win the playoffs?
“He demonstrated it with Padova, he demonstrated it in the Italian Cup, Catania in a single match and over 180 minutes can beat anyone. It is the third team that has spent the most in Serie C and what’s more it has a huge boost from the public, in Serie C there is no team that can have this support.”
