The Greenhouse Club Italy, in the current financial year, it announced the 19th Edition of the Serra International Italia School Competition which has for theme: “Being for the other”: Everyone can make their own contribution to creating a welcoming and friendly, compassionate and supportive, just and free society.
The awards ceremony winners of the competition (nine children in total), in which primary and secondary school classes participated, will be held on Thursday 2 May 2024 from 9.30 to 11.30 in the Chapter Hall of the Abbey of San Michele Arcangelo in Montescaglioso.
The ceremony will be conducted by the president of the Serra Club of Matera Margherita Lopergolo.
The archbishop of Matera-Irsina and bishop of Tricarico will preside, Msgr. Antonio Giuseppe Caiazzo, who is also Abbot of the Abbey of San Michele Arcangelo.
The mayor of Montescaglioso Vincenzo Zito will bring greetings, Maria Rosaria Chancellor, Director of Office IV – Territorial area of Matera will speak.
Serra International Italia, a lay association that is committed to promoting and supporting vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life, has been organizing a national school competition for 19 years to stimulate young people to reflect and discuss the important values of man and society, promoting the culture of life understood as a vocation to service.
The works presented in the competition thus constitute an interesting cross-section that highlights the relational dynamics of young people, their affectivity, their thoughts on educational models and in particular the scholastic one, the condition of the family and contemporary society, the difficulties dependent on current historical moment.
This year proposes to reflect, through the school competition, on how the well-being of the individual and of every community grows in the serenity of interpersonal relationships, with the conscious and active participation of everyone, to ensure development and social progress.
