Lucanian Angelo Tortorelli re-elected president of Mirabilia Network Italpress press agency

MATERA (ITALPRESS) – The Mirabilia Network Association, which includes National Unioncamere and 21 Italian Chambers of Commerce (including the Lucanian one) to connect and enhance areas that share significant historical, cultural and environmental importance, as well as characterized by the presence of sites UNESCO – World Heritage Site, renewed its bodies during an Assembly held yesterday, confirming by acclamation Angelo Tortorelli (former President of the Matera Chamber of Commerce) at the helm of the network and confirming the board that led the Association in the last few years.
“It gives me great satisfaction, mixed with pride and a great sense of responsibility, to continue leading Mirabilia Network within the new mandate,” declared Tortorelli, thanking the members of the Board of Directors for their renewed trust. “The challenges that await us, in terms of cultural and sustainable tourism, are many, just as there are many repercussions that affect our territorial nodes and economic operators. It is no coincidence that the European Union has combined the two connotations and today explicitly speaks of ‘sustainable cultural tourism’ as an essential element of regional and macro-regional development strategies, offering a new perspective as it places cultural heritage and local communities at the center of the processes decision-making, responding effectively to the challenges related to overcrowding, cultural appropriation and loss of authenticity”.
President Tortorelli, who will remain in office for the next three years, also expressed satisfaction with the specific weight that the Basilicata Chamber of Commerce will continue to exercise in the Mirabilia partnership; a sign of gratitude towards the origins of the project, but also of recognition of the skills acquired over the years in which the Association has grown in Italy and today represents a model that has also been borrowed from France.
