VALLERANO (Viterbo) – Vallerano is preparing to shine once again with the sixteenth edition of the Night of Candles, an event that brings culture and romance to the heart of the picturesque municipality with ancient Etruscan origins.
When the sun sets on the horizon, a spell comes to life: the residents of Vallerano adorn their homes and the surrounding spaces with original and personal scenography, lighting flames that transform into suggestive and mysterious shapes. Along a path shrouded in an aura of mystery, both inside and outside the ancient walls, local, national and international visitors are invited to explore unique places and immerse themselves in an atmosphere of sharing under the silvery light of the moon. The evening is enriched by enchanting melodies, brushstrokes of paint that come to life, photographic shots that capture the essence of the moment, theatrical performances that tell age-old stories and audiovisual works that enchant the soul.
Traditionally set for the last Saturday of August, the event will take place on August 31st, with entry to the historic center allowed from 6pm until late at night or until the (physical) energies of the participants are exhausted. The theme of this edition, “Once upon a time”, reawakens ancient legends and forgotten stories
The Vallerano Candle Night Association is planning an even more complex series of initiatives this year which will have the theme “Once upon a time”, the topic of the photography competition open to all participants in the event. Numerous artists will perform simultaneously in a variety of events, the calendar of which will be announced in the coming months on the official website (www.nottedellecandele.eu).
With 100,000 candles and thousands of spectators expected, the Night of Candles confirms itself as one of the most popular cultural tourism initiatives in Lazio.
