VENICE. Will be Cristina Look of Green Europe the candidate as leader of the European Parliament for the Green Left Alliance in the constituency it includes Emilia-Romagna, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Trentino-Alto Adige and Veneto. The Venetian regional councilor has stood out in recent years for her great attention to environmental protection, ecological transition, health, agriculture, sustainable public mobility and the fight against climate change. These are the main issues that the environmentalist candidate will undertake to bring to Europe. With the Dolomites and the Altramontagna he shared important political ”battles” such as the one to denounce the absurdity of a 120 million euro bobsleigh track in Cortina and it has always shown itself also extra-regional point of reference on issues related to environmental protection and in particular also of high lands.

“For today. For tomorrow” is the slogan that Guarda chose for his electoral campaign. Born in 1990 (and soon to be a mother) she is an agricultural entrepreneur in her hometown (she is from Vicenza, Lonigo) and was elected to the regional council for the first time at 25 years oldIn the 2015to then be reconfirmed in 2020. ”From the north-east of Italy to Europe – explains Guarda – to bring to the European Parliament those same battles that have characterized my political commitment as an authentic environmentalist in our territories in recent years and to be able to face them in a more radical way and with a broader perspective”. Battles that characterized her commitment as a green councilor in the Veneto Region. ”Battles – he continues – like those for health against Pfas pollution, battles like that for the defense of the mountains from useless, expensive and wicked projects such as the Cortina bobsleigh track. Battles to protect maternity leave such as that for nursery schools or to increase the levels of medical assistance to families”.

“I chose the motto ‘For today. For tomorrow’ to symbolize the dual foundations of my political agenda – underlines the candidate for the European elections -. There The climate crisis must be addressed by acting today and, at the same time, looking to the future. Many of the solutions provided to us by the global scientific community are not only already available, but also prove to be strategically effective in addressing the most immediate economic challenges, such as the agricultural crisis due to the drop in production recorded throughout Europe. It is necessary to adopt a new paradigm capable of economically valorising the work of those who adopt sustainable practices because they not only produce food but help us in the fight against the climate crisis and can give new impetus and competitiveness to the sector”.

“The new ones fossil projects that the Italian Government persists in proposing they are on the wrong side of history – concludes the environmentalist -. The future runs on investments in network infrastructures, renewables and energy communities, following a scientific and pragmatic approach. Studies in hand, the energy transition is not only possible and we have all the tools to do it, but it is also extremely convenient from an economic point of view to free ourselves from the gas of the authoritarian regimes with which the Meloni Government is signing pacts and agreements. Italy and Europe will have to be the energy hub of renewables, not gas”.
