PALERMO – Theft with split in the center of Palermo. In the central Piazza Verdi, next to the Massimo theatre, thieves broke into a bar.

Someone damaged the window of the Verdi 13 bistro in the middle of the night and entered the business taking away the cash register. The discovery was made this morning by the owner Giuseppe Priolo.

“It’s sad to see the havoc that was done to our restaurant – says Priolo –. The bar is in the center and since this morning customers and many tourists have seen first-hand what has been happening in our Palermo for months now. Not a night goes by without some shop being robbed. We understand the difficulty of the police in guaranteeing safety for citizens and for us traders, but this situation is truly not tolerable”.

This morning police and forensic officers intervened to detect the fingerprints left by those who committed the theft. “From the images of the video surveillance system we saw that whoever entered did so without any protection – adds the owner – with bare hands and without hiding his face. A sign that those who commit these crimes have no fear of being identified and have no fear of the consequences.”
