“Stella Lucent” – The other Molfetta

“O Mary, shining star in the stormy sea of life…”. It is from these words that the Cultural Review was born “Stella Lucent” by the Confraternity Maria SS. of the Good Council of Molfetta.
This event, strongly supported by the new Administration, has the aim of creating a high-profile cultural moment involving confreres and external guests.
The first 2024 edition was held on Saturday 20 April and involved the titular Organist of the Brotherhood, Maestro Daniele de Palma, who played the historic Giuseppe Toselli Organ from 1875 and the voice of the Brother Girolamo Binetti; guest the Flutist Maestro Alessio Bellarte. Brother Corrado Camporeale will present the evening.
The compositions on the program are important and complex: the Sonatas da Chiesa for organ in E minor and G minor by Tommaso Albinoni; the Sonata in B minor for Flute and Continuo by GF Handel as well as the beautiful Sonata in G minor BWV 1020 attributed to J. Sebastian Bach but, according to many musicologists, it belongs to his son Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach. Interspersing these sublime pages are F. Schubert’s Ave Maria and C. Frank’s Panis angelicus.

The Stella Lucent Review comes to life to honor Our Lady of Good Counsel during the novena dedicated to her. The idea came from his friend, brother and Maestro Daniele de Palma who proposed it to the administration with a program that included compositions that are only heard in large theatres. This first edition was, therefore, an evening of great music that delighted body and soul. A special compliment to Alessio, guest of the first edition. I’m sorry for those who couldn’t participate, but let’s meet up for the next edition. The words of the Prior Pietro Minervini.

I thank the Administration of the Maria del Buon Consiglio Confraternity in the persons of the Prior Pietro Minervini, the First Member Gaetano de Candia and the Second Member Leonardo de Bari for having supported this important project. I also sincerely thank the parish priest of S. Gennaro in Molfetta, Don Andrea Azzollini, for allowing the use of the historic organ for the novena and the review. Investing in culture today, especially in this historical moment which sees cultural dormancy in every aspect and especially in a neighborhood that has been deprived of it for many years, is of primary importance. I hope that new editions of Stella Lucent can be created and that they become a “star”, a fixed annual point of reference, for the entire city of Molfetta. These are the words of M° de Palmaartistic director of the event.
