Retablo’s Scena Contemporanea 4.0 project kicks off in Catania

The Scena Contemporanea 4.0 | project is in full swing in Catania immersive technologies for intermediality, which aims to intermedialise both the languages ​​and the ways of creation, production and use of performing arts through the use of immersive digital technologies. The initiative, financed by the European Union – Next Generation Eu and promoted by Retablo, includes a series of training courses in the form of webinars, workshops and free laboratory activities aimed at professionals, public and private cultural workers and operators in the fields of the performing arts, music and audiovisual sectors who will be able to register on this form. The objective is to train those who work in the field of culture to make the best use of new digital technologies, promoting new ideas and the desire to try new things, in an environment that takes into account both traditional art and the new opportunities offered by technology. The project is based on a method that combines education, field experience and theoretical study.

The aim is to create beneficial effects for society and promote integration, gender equality and help young people working in the world of art and media. Scena Contemporanea 4.0 was inaugurated last April 22nd by the webinar Iperdrammaturgie Sephirot interactive game design for the scene, hosted by Alessandro Anglani. The second scheduled appointment, which will be hosted in the spaces of Zō Centro Culture Contemporanee and Spazio Oscena, will be the workshop on Isadora, the famous software for the interactivity and manipulation of multimedia sources in the live show conducted directly by its inventor, Mark Coniglio, on the following dates: Monday 29 and Tuesday 30 April and from 2 to 4 May (from 10.00 to 12.30 and from 1.30 to 16.00).

Mark Coniglio, pioneer of digital art and creator of Isadora, will lead the workshop with practical demonstrations and insights into his creative process with the support of Eni Brandner who will hold a part of the workshop on Motion Tracking techniques and in particular on the use of the suit Rokoko Smartsuit Pro™ in combination with Isadora. In particular, Isadora allows users to interact with digital media through movement, using sensors that transform human movements into commands to edit videos and other applications related to the performing arts. Isadora is named after dance pioneer Isadora Duncan and is used in various settings, including interactive performances, research projects, motor rehabilitation and interactions between the body and digital technologies.

It has also been employed to create real-time interactive choreographic dialogues between virtual and real stages located in different locations around the world. Participants will learn the fundamental principles for handling the Isadora software, discover how movement and voice can interact instantly with audiovisual elements, using digital media and body tracking. Participants will be offered the opportunity to use the temporary license of the Isadora software for free from the start of the workshop. The next scheduled appointment is Thursday 9 May from 10.30 to 13.00 and from 14.30 to 16.30 at Zō Centro Culture Contemporanee, with the training day Live entertainment and new technologies, that is, if the future passes through here we will be ready, conducted by theater organizer Francesca D’Ippolito, the director of virtual reality shows Andrea Paolucci and the digital artist Massimiliano Siccardi, creator of “Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit.
