“After the flood rabbits and donkeys for pet therapy”

“Everything was ready for the inauguration, then the flood a year ago swept everything away.” Podere Leoni rises again and opens the doors of the urban oasis dedicated to the excellence of nature. He overcame first the pandemic, then last year’s flood that hit Romagna. But now Podere Leoni is ready to dedicate itself to the excellence of nature. A dream of traditions to tell, of sustainable agriculture and sharing. The urban oasis, which bears the signature of master ice cream maker Roberto Leoni, is located in Cesena, in via Sant’Anna 201. And for those who know the area, they know well that it is one of the areas most affected by the flood of May 2023: the long Savio. “One year ago we were ready to inaugurate, everything was perfect – explains Roberto Leoni -. Then the tragedy that swept everything away, we worked hard and today I am satisfied with our work”.

Podere Leoni has opened to the public, with a grand opening. It is an urban oasis, where you can find a biodiversity made up of people, plants and animals such as Romagna chickens, rabbits, donkeys and animals that will be used in pet therapy.

In short, an oasis of well-being, built with recycled materials, where old-fashioned agricultural products will also be sold: “The idea was born from the need to self-produce fruit and vegetables that will be used in the Leoni ice cream parlors – continues the master ice cream maker – We will also make jams and marmalades, fresh preparations and sell fruit and vegetables.” But that’s not all, educational workshops will be organized, courses that will teach how to build an organic vegetable garden, events with storytellers from Romagna, readings of fairy tales by grandparents and more generally events linked to tradition and the territory.

And also islands dedicated to students, where they can study immersed in nature, and the presence of a large bicycle parking lot to encourage the use of ecological vehicles. In short, well-being in every sense, “it is our path towards change – continues Leoni –, a new way of experiencing the city with the right respect for nature and its rhythms. Then who knows what else will come to mind”. Podere Leoni will be open on weekends until the end of May, then every day from June onwards, closing on Sundays.
