BOMARZO – The #Madonna #del #Piano #district won the 39th #Palio of Sant’Anselmo which took place yesterday in Bomarzo. The jockey Alessandro Cersosimo on Unamore took care of bringing the #district to triumph.
The Dentro, Borgo, Poggio and Croci districts competed for the ‘confanole’ with #Madonna #del #Piano in a celebration full of history, culture and traditions.
The event started with the torchlight procession of the 5 districts which brought the saint the gift of the ingredients for the filling of the typical biscuit of Sant’Anselmo, which began the Biscuit Festival. Subsequently we proceeded with the choice of the route and the horses that were drawn for the prize and combined with the various districts.
“Unfortunately, during the day of the 24th we had to cancel the test which was scheduled for 5pm due to bad weather – explained the mayor of Bomarzo Marco Perniconi, on the eve – it was useless to put our jockeys and our horses at risk. The surface was completely redone by the municipal administration, and in the rain it still guarantees the ride. Luckily yesterday was a beautiful day.”

Returning to the race, it took the mover almost an hour before the mover gave the OK to the move, there were, in fact, five false starts. During the three laps Unamore and Cersosimo were always in the lead.
