The two assistants #will be Francesca Di Monte and Tiziana Trasciatti
First all-female #refereeing trio for the #Serie A championship. Inter-Torino, the Nerazzurri’s #first match as new Italian champions, #will in fact be refereed by Maria Sole #Ferrieri-Caputi assisted by Francesca Di Monte and Tiziana Trasciatti. “It is a designation that fills us with pride,” declared Katia Senesi, the #first woman to be part of the National Committee of the Italian Referees Association, of which she has been a member since 2021. “We have been working for three years,” she explained, “on project on girls to give all the opportunities they deserve and to compete on equal terms with their male colleagues. There is a long way to go, it is still long, but we can say that the atmosphere has changed. Even in terms of new entries, women have surpassed men.” Senesi then recalled that “at the moment the #female presence among the total members” in the Hague “is around 10%, but among the new ones there are more women than men”. “There is a lot of focus on them, not because they are women, but because they are prepared,” she underlined.
Maria Sole #Ferrieri-Caputi was the #first woman to referee a #Serie A match (2 October 2022, Sassuolo-Salernitana 5-0) and this year she has already refereed six top-flight matches.
