MODIFICATION – It is essential to respect public places and people, and this can only be guaranteed through everyone’s collaboration. In order to promote these civic values, in accordance with the Urban Police Regulation adopted by the Municipality of Modicahave been organised special checks by the Commander of the Local Police, Rosario Cannizzaro, at the request of the mayor Maria Monisteri Caschetto and the councilor for territorial security, Purple Rosaryin response to numerous reports from citizens regarding the abandonment of dog waste on streets and sidewalkswithout the owners carrying out cleaning.
Penalties for owners who let dogs defecate on the street
The Local Police, operating in plain clothes and on foot, have identified sixteen dog ownersinflicting the same on them sanctions administrative for failure to collect excrement. Furthermore, five people were stopped while they were walking their dogs to check the regularity of the animals’ microchipswhich appeared to be in order.
The checks were mainly concentrated in the Ortisiana ring road, in Corso Umberto, in Viale Medaglie d’Oro and in Corso Principessa Maria del Belgio, where the sixteen dog owners who they did not clean the sidewalk after their animals defecated.
All identified owners had their dogs on leashes.

“The problem of abandoning dog waste – underline the mayor and the councilor – generates legitimate complaints regarding hygiene and behavioral issues. The invitation is to collaborate actively, equipping ourselves with the necessary tools to keep the streets and sidewalks clean“.
The control service will continue in the next few days and will also involve other areas of the city.
