Cross-border twinning: Pordenone, Lussino and the Northeast together for the future

26.04.2024 – 07.30 – Important agreement cultural, tourist, economic and gastronomic twinning Pordenone Lussino Northeast signed Tuesday evening atHotel Ca’ Brugnera. No more sea and land borders between Italy, Croatia and Slovenia towards Nova Gorica and Gorizia European Capital of Culture 2025. In the room packed with bodies, associations, companies and journalists they spoke Mario Tedeschirepresentative of the Pordenone Order of Engineers and of the Federation of Engineer Orders of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Francesca Muner president of Coldiretti Donne Friuli Venezia Giulia and entrepreneur of the largest arnica cultivation in Europe in Piancavallo, Sanjin Zoretic president of the Italian Community of Lussinpiccolo. At the event, coordinated by Vittorio Baroni author of the project, they reported Ileana Brcic of the Lošinj Tourist Board and Filip Uzelac by Jadranka Lussino.

In addition to Ingegneri and Coldiretti, among the signatories stands out the UNESCO Club of Udine, the Municipality of Pordenone with the delegate for school canteens. Membership also came from numerous associations, travel agencies, clubs and workers’ clubs including Cral Credit Agricole Triveneto. The North-East Adriatic Europe agreement – which enjoys the support of the Italian Union of Koper and Rijeka – aims to generate opportunities, advantages and promote cooperation at six thematic levels: Culture, Art and History; Education and Training; Research and Engineering; Quality tourism and trade; Craft Excellence; Fisheries and Agriculture; Communication, European Health and Safety.

Twinning toast with Bellini and Sansigot, native wine from the island of Sansego, which accompanied the rich aperitif with the selection of zero km products, i.e. the “seals” of biodiversity, from Campagna Amica of the partner Coldiretti Friuli Venezia. The Italian ties with Lussino are deep, where Venice ruled for over four centuries. On the island of the archipelago of the same name between Istria and Dalmatia, the Serenissima dialect is spoken. The Adriatic North-East Europe network, guided by the slogan “Sustainability is Culture for European development”started in 2023 when a delegation of Venetian engineers was hosted in Lošinj to study climate change.

Among the initiatives already planned there is un meeting in Venice on October 8th for the twinning of the schoolsthree exhibitions with young people a Rovinj, Pula and Venice on the cultural heritage of the Serenissima, La Fenice with schools in Gorizia for the European Capital of Culture, the creation of an Italian-Slovenian musical alphabet and a dessert in the shape of a musical note. A double socio-cultural and competitive regatta project is in the works for the summer of 2025, from Venice to Lussinpiccolo via Pula, with different sailing times between boats from the voluntary associations and those competing.
