Agrigento, 500 thousand euros for road works

Following a loan of 500 thousand euros – provided by the Department of Civil Protection of the Sicilian Region for the “First urgent civil protection interventions following the exceptional meteorological events of 2018” which affected the Municipality of Agrigento – we will proceed, after years of waiting, the restoration of the road surface and the recovery of the walls of Via Cavaleri Magazzeni, Serraferlicchio and degli Ulivi.

The mayor, Francesco Miccichè, comments: “This is another important intervention that allows us to improve road transit safety, to protect the entire community. We continue to work in the interest of Agrigento, which is preparing to become the Italian Capital of Culture 2025, and which also needs infrastructural and urban works aimed at reducing all forms of inconvenience and making our ‘business card’ more attractive. I thank our representatives at the Sicilian Region for their collaboration, President Schifani for his constant support and engineer Cocina for the opportunity granted”.

And the councilor for public works, Gerlando Principato, states: “It is news that we welcome with enthusiasm. It will be possible to start the works, to be completed by 2024, on municipal roads that have long been left in a state of abandonment. We will strive to limit the inconvenience to the inhabitants of the areas involved in the works as much as possible, hoping for the understanding and collaboration of the citizens”.
