Armored center for three days, politics moves to Pescara – Pescara

PESCARA. The curtain rises, for three days Pescara becomes a point of reference for national and regional politics also in view of the next European Championships. In the tensile structure, the “village of controversy” overlooking the sea, on the central (free) beach of Piazza Primo Maggio in front of the Cascella fountain, the programmatic conference of Fratelli d’Italia, the party of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, opens at 3pm and the President of the Region, Marco Marsilio. Until Sunday, ministers, deputy ministers, undersecretaries, parliamentarians, managers of state-owned companies and journalists will speak and meet.

Giorgia Meloni herself speaks on Sunday at 11.45am (she should announce her candidacy in the European elections on 8 and 9 June).

For the city, the center becomes armored for three days: checkpoints and controls, prohibitions, restricted areas. The entire Primo Maggio square is prohibited to traffic with the closure of the coast, from 3pm: a maxi pedestrian area to welcome the representatives of the Meloni government, according to a romantic reading of the ordinance; three days of inconvenience, according to a bureaucratic interpretation.

The ordinance of the Municipality speaks of “temporary modification of traffic”. For three days, the Riviera closes: the city, in the area of ​​Piazza Primo Maggio, is divided in two. The Matteotti seafront (between Piazza Primo Maggio and Via Galilei) and the Riviera (between Via Mazzini and Piazza Primo Maggio) close at 3pm. The riviera is not accessible until 8pm on Sunday. Parking and stopping bans, with the tow truck in action to remove vehicles from the street, have been in force since 12 today: in via Gramsci, piazza Primo Maggio, final part of corso Umberto, via Mazzini (between via Regina Elena and the riviera), the riviera (between Via Mazzini and Piazza Primo Maggio), Lungomare Matteotti (between Piazza Primo Maggio and Via Galilei), Lungomare Matteotti on the mountain side between the Villa de Riseis park and Via Paolucci.
