Following the agreement reached by mayor of Peschiera Orietta Gaiulli and from that of Affi Marco Giacomo Segaafter years of negotiations mediated by the Prefecture of Verona, from mid-June to mid-September the regional road 450 which runs through the Venetian hinterland of lower Lake Garda will be closed to heavy vehicle traffic.
Last year, ad Augustwe had arrived at a first experimental stop lasting a month. A test that left everyone satisfied, which is why it was decided to make this new road system structural throughout the summer. It will be made effective with a decree from Veneto Strade.
Like last year, the driving ban will only concern vehicles exceeding 7.5 tonnes and, as proposed, the time slot is from 7.00 to 19.00.
The numbers that emerged last year after a study of the flows spoke of the daily transit of approximately 2,500 heavy vehicles entering and leaving Affi and Peschiera. Numbers which, when transferred to the regional one, are understandably unsustainable. Vehicles going to production sites in the province of Verona will be excluded from the traffic ban. For them, the Brenner State Road 12 is indicated as an alternative non-toll road.
