Holidu: Rimini in the top ten destinations for the Liberation Bridge
Descriptive text here

This period between the end of April and the beginning of May, taking advantage of two public holidays and perhaps adding a couple of days off, allows a fairly long period to visit old and new places, in Italy and abroad: but which are the most popular places this year? Holidu, one of the most important holiday home and apartment booking portals in Europe, has created a ranking of the top 30 destinations most loved by Italians for the May 1st long weekend, also indicating the average number of people per destination as well as the average price of holiday homes.

The trend that sees Italians preferring local locations over foreign ones is confirmed (22 against 8), but with the peculiarity that in the first two places there are two foreign locations: Barcelona and Paris in second place. The other foreign countries are mostly Spanish (Palma de Mallorca ninth, Benidorm 15th, Valencia 18th and Malaga 24th) plus New York and Marrakech 10th and 22nd respectively.

If Barcelona and Paris are in the first two places, bronze medal is Rome with Naples and Palermo closing the top 5. Florence, Rimini and San Remo between positions 6 and 8, while Palma de Mallorca and New York complete the top 10.

Sardinia and Liguria place 4 locations each in the top 30: for the first only no location in the top 10 but the one that shines is undoubtedly Golfo Aranci which places 14th with Cagliari 17th, Villasimius 25th and Carloforte 29th. Liguria, on the other hand, sees San Remo in eighth place, Rapallo 16th, San Lorenzo al Mare 20th and Genoa 27th. Sicily and Tuscany place 3 each: in addition to their respective regional capitals, noteworthy are the Sicilian Marina di Ragusa and Trapani, 11th and 12th respectively. Lombardy and Umbria each have two locations in the top 30, including Desenzano del Garda in 19th position.

The number of people per destination is very varied. If cities like Rome are chosen on average by 2 people per stay, confirming a romantic vocation, other places like New York, however, are visited on average by 3 people per stay. But it also goes to an average higher than 3 people which reaches 4 people for unmissable art cities such as Paris, Naples and Florence up to 5 for Barcelona and Malaga and even 6 for San Remo, Carloforte and Valencia.

The most expensive city, as you can easily imagine, is the Big Apple: New York costs on average 490 euros per person per night with Paris in second place with 404 euros: these two destinations are the only ones above 400 euros. Between 300 euros and 400 euros, however, we only find Barcelona with its 301 euros per night on average. There are 5 locations under 300 euros ranging from 260 euros in Florence to 211 in Livigno and Golfo Aranci. All the others are under 100 euros and among them the cheapest stand out in particular: these are Marrakesh with its 117 euros and Trapani with only 101 euros per night on average per person which, by virtue of this, turns out to be the least expensive of the top 30.
